ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

Dear everyone

After having to reschedule a gathering several times finally, alumni came to share their time and resources.  It was great to see the seniors who came to share their wit and wisdom to the younger generation.  Angel Sonico (or Brother angel to the boys and girls ), Nem blanco (brother pogi to the 80's boys), Ex Estandarte and beautiful wife Virgie and Sonny Javier's  presence were more than enough to draw some inspiration for the  gen y and X alumni.

The celebration started with a para liturgy prepared by a young Marist Brother and an alumni Bro. Vince Celeste, fms.  It was a beautiful para liturgy that is meant to strengthen the Marist and Notre dame spirit.    It was also a  time to foster camaraderie among them   Angel Sonico challenged the alumni that the gathering should not only focus  on get togehter but should also be a way to make a difference in the lives of other people.  The alumni headed by Jilven Amar turn over 4 boxes of  books, all hard bound copies 2007 and 2008 edition of computer science, nursing, business books.    Elected officers for the Notre Dame of Marbel Manila Chapter:

After the gathering the officers met to plan and finalized the collections and payables.   The remaining amount was  P 2,400.00 which was going to be the seed money for the organization.    some alumni opted to stay for more tsika tsika and waited for others to come.   Captain of the Airforce, Jerome Tuerca invited the alumni for a few rounds of beer at his residence which was just stone throw away from Dansalan.  Alumni shared their happy and sad experiences in manila and they wanted he organization to be active in helping the young graduates find jobs in the jungles of Metro manila. 

ACTION PLANS :

"Piso para sa NDMU" a project of the manila chapter hopes to raise P200,000.00 for the Professorial Chair before the end of March 2010.  treasurer Elise will start the reminder to all manila based alumni who wish to give to the fund by depositing their contribution to a designated bank.  Sonny javier will put in the fist seed money for the project as he will open a BDO account for this purpose.

" Job Hub"  is a project that is meant to help young graduates who comes to manila to look for work.  The alumni officers and members will help in giving orientation and job  placement if necessary to help those that will need their assistance.

"fund raising and Fellowship"  December will be a busy month for everyone thus, the alumni officers has decided to have their gathering in January of 2010  at the Fort.  Details will be posted soon. 

"Book donation for public school library" President Jilven Amar, of the Nationa Library under the Office of the President ,  shall allocate books for affected public schools in the area.  The book donation will be a joint project of Marist Marikina and NDMarbel Alumni marbel Chapter. 

Web site for NDMA Manila will be created by Joreem Somodio before the end of this month.  The website domain and hosting will be free according to our young network admin.  Besides posting of events, activities and updates of the alma matter this  will carry inspring success stories of alumni.

Alumni ID  will be issued to Manila based alumni.  Joreem Somodio shall create the design .  Alumni who wish to avail of the ID will have to pay for the it..
